Malik Jarrell
Sterling
Oct 10, 2002 — Jun 24, 2026
Detroit
Malik Jarrell Sterling was born on October 10, 2002, in Detroit, Michigan, to Rena Frazier and Mead Sterling III. Affectionately known as “Lock,” Malik was one of nine children.
Malik received his education through the Detroit and Clintondale Public School systems.
From an early age, Malik was a hardworking young man who enjoyed making his own money. At just 11 years old, he began working, with his first jobs being at a florist shop and a collision shop.
Malik was kindhearted and would literally give you the shirt off his back. He always put others first and often placed himself last. His caring and giving nature was simply a part of who he was.
Malik was very family-oriented. He loved playing video games and making TikTok videos with his sisters and nieces. His smile could light up a room, and when Malik was around, he was often cracking jokes and being silly. Malik was called home on June 21, 2026.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Rena Frazier; his father, Mead Sterling III; six sisters, Sable, Ashley, Miya, Courtney, Jasmine, and Makaylah; his grandparents; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; cousins and friends whom he loved dearly.
Malik was preceded in death by his two brothers, Deontae and LaQuan.
