Laura L. Newsome was born on November 15, 1982 in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Minister Eric Newsome and Cordette Newsome. Laura was educated in the Detroit Public School System, graduating form Cody High School. She passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Laura accepted Christ at an early age at Aijalon Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan, under the leadership of Re. Curtis C. Williams.

Though her years were few, the impact of her life was profound. She was a radiant soul- full of warmth, kindness, and quiet strength.

Laura was known for her compassionate heart, her bright smile, and the way she made others feel truly seen. Whether lending a listening ear or offering gentle encouragement, she touched lives in ways that will never be forgotten.

She found joy in attending church, listening to music, and collecting gym shoes. She also loved hearts and the color yellow. Above all, she cherished her family and friends, especially her cousin circle: always putting love at the center of everything she did.

Laura was preceded in death by her father, Minister Eric Newsome, and her daughter, Kayla Walker. She is cherished an remembered by her mother, Cordette: her sister, Erica; her sons Kamari, David Jr., and Daniel(David Hedgespeth); her daughter Katelyn(Karief Walker); her only niece, Jourdan; a host of aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends. Though her time here was brief, her spirit remains- vibrant, eternal, and deeply loved.
