Doris Ann Webb, affectionately known as “Queen,” “Boopa,” “Boota,” and “Brown Grandma,” was born on November 2, 1942, to John Henry Hurt and Estelle Marie Hurt in Detroit, Michigan. Doris was the youngest of the nine siblings.

Doris accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in her youth. She attended the Detroit Public Schools and later earned certificates in computer literacy and cosmetology.

At the tender age of 16, Doris was introduced to Leman by his older brother, Mac Arthur as a young romance grew into a lifelong love. In 1985, Doris and Leman married after many years of courtship. They welcomed four children—Reginald, Terrina, Nitiah, and Santino—and Doris lovingly embraced her stepchildren, Brennan, Tasha, Ahdari, and YKeita. She was proud of each of them and the beautiful family they created.

Doris was employed at the Arnold Home for many years, where she built lasting friendships and meaningful connections. She was often admired for her beauty and spunky nature. She cherished time with her sisters and brothers, fondly referring to their neighborhood as “Down the Way.” She found joy in caring for her family and was known for cooking hearty meals that brought everyone together. Her grandchildren, all three generations, meant the world to her, and she delighted in sharing stories from the “good old days” with them. Everyone was aware that Doris was “Queen Bee,” protective of her family, most notably her firstborn, Reggie. She would go to bat for that one.

Doris remained youthful throughout her life – staying closely connected to loved ones regardless of distance or time. She enjoyed jazz music, dancing, Westerns, and soap operas. She was also good for calling friends to look up the daily number from the dream book… for all you lottery players. Doris was outspoken, strong-willed and unwavering in her beliefs. She loved deeply, stood her ground, and as many would say, “She did not take no mess.” Beneath her bold spirit was a generous heart, and she often opened her home to those in need.

Doris entered into eternal rest on August 4, 2026, at the age of 83. Her husband, Archie “Leman”; daughter, Terrina; son, Reginald “Reggie”; parents, John Henry Hurt and Estelle Marie Hurt; and all of her siblings, preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her devoted children, Nitiah (George), Santino (Audrey), Brennan (Rosalyn), Tasha, Ahdari (Kenya), and YKeita (Robert); grandchildren, Angel, Delizia, Malaysia, George III, Sommer, Terrance “Trey,” Jordan, Brynn, Bailey, Zyon, Ahdari Jr., Korron, NiKeita, and LaShon; great grandchildren, Kiahra and Juleus; great-great grandchildren, Miv’Angel, A’Miya, and Winter; brother-in-law, Mac Arthur (Barbara); sister-in-law, Mayola; niece/sister, Delores “Nollie”; cousin, Diane; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also shared a special bond with Deborah, Punkin, Margaret, Gwen, Corrinda, YaVonne, and Rhonda, among many others.

Doris’ laughter, strength, and vibrant spirit will never be forgotten. She touched countless lives and leaves behind memories to be treasured always.
